Easy Stress Relief - look outside and inside yourself

Easy Stress Relief - look outside and inside yourself

Here are some easy tips you can follow to get stress relief, almost instantly.

Help others - this will put your own worries into perspective

When you're stressed, you're so tied up in yourself that you're not aware of what's going on around you. Worse, your friends and family will pick up on your stress, and they'll become stressed too.

Breathe deeply, and listen to others

When you're stressed, chances are you're irritable, and judgmental. Breathe deeply, and when others talk, let them finish what they're saying.

Hug someone - or a pet

Hug a family member, or a friend, or pat your dog. Pets help you to put your own stress into perspective, and are known to relieve stress too, just by their presence.

Do just one thing every day to help someone else

Offer to babysit or shop for a friend who's very busy, or answer the phone for a colleague who's trying to finish a report.

Go for a walk

Walk for stress relief
Go for a walk in the park. Walk briskly, keep your head up, and breathe. You'll find that if you walk for ten minutes, your mood will change, and after 20 minutes, you'll fee much better. Exercise gets rid of stress hormones.

Eliminate alcohol

Alcohol is a depressant. Eliminate alcohol completely when you're under stress. The alcohol will give you a false sense of coping.

Realize that anxiety comes and goes

No matter how anxious you are: you may feel dizzy, or as though you can't get your breath, or even as if you're having a heart attack - realize that this emotion will not kill you. It will pass.
